03The core of the practice

Neurofeedback training sessions

Sessions in which measured brain activity is turned into feedback you can see or hear, used as practice material for self-regulation.

In detail

Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback. Sensors placed on the scalp record electrical activity; that recording is processed and presented back to you as sound, imagery or another simple signal. Nothing is sent into the head.

The activity in the session is practice. You are not asked to solve anything or perform. Over a series of sessions the intention is that the feedback supports familiarity with your own states of attention and arousal.

Session length, frequency, sensor placement and the number of sessions are decided with you in the practice, based on your situation. Those specifics are not published here, because publishing a generic protocol would be misleading.

What this covers

  • Feedback derived from your own recorded activity, in real time
  • A quiet room and an unhurried pace
  • Space to stop, ask questions or change plan at any point

What it does not include

  • Any stimulation or current applied to the head
  • A fixed, advertised number of sessions
  • A guaranteed or predicted outcome
